🚨 🐛 We're back on the 18th of June with our Hungry Caterpillar & CQRS in PHP event! 🐛🚨
Join us with Andy Carter & Ifeanyi Madu to learn more about the challenges of complex code and an introduction to CQRS!
Sign up here: https://www.meetup.com/leedsphp/events/308063952
We'll also be giving away a Kubernetes book kindly donated by Nigel Poulton! 📚
Thank you to Estrato Cloud for sponsoring this event and to AutoProtect for hosting us in their lovely offices 😄
When should you use CQRS in your .NET app?
✅ Complex domains
✅ High read/write scaling needs
✅ Separate models make sense
❌ Don’t overdo it for simple CRUD
Use CQRS for clarity and performance — not for everything.

Peter Royal will go over the design and implementation of an application that is helping power Netflix’s studio. Borrowing ideas from #EventSourcing and #CQRS, he will show how this model is aligned with modern cloud-based architectures and capabilities desired in business applications. https://youtu.be/Hg9JYyciJvk
Wrote another blog post on creating scalable, performant and secure serverless applications. This post covers the CQRS and event streaming implementation I used for Sale Nook. As ever, I'm still looking for work or a contract so if you, or someone you know, needs an engineering manager or freelance, fullstack developer hit me up.

Call me crazy, but I firmly believe that Commands (DTOs) in a #CQRS application are part of the domain.
They are the imperative that is given by the stakeholder.
Yes, you will have infrastructure commands like "clean up some tables", but "sudo make me a sandwich" is business domain.
I took the chance to refactor the sample application of this blog post (https://gaetanopiazzolla.github.io/java/design-patterns/springboot/2025/03/17/cqrs.html) to showcase how I'd structure a #SpringModulith application / module that's supposed to use #CQRS as second-level, technical decomposition approach. Explanations in the README: https://github.com/odrotbohm/cqrs-spring-modulith 🍃📦
If you're in an industry long enough, you'll see the same trends pop up again and again, sometimes just with different names. This post is basically advocating for #CQRS (command query request segregation), a practice that many of us in the #php community were using over 10 years ago, but giving it a new name for Laravel users.
Would you be interested in a blog post about using event-sourcing with API Platform?
I'm thinking about diving into how this could work with API Platform, leveraging its powerful tools for building modern APIs while keeping event-driven persistence in mind.
Would this be something you’d like to read about? Or do you have specific challenges or questions around event-sourcing and API Platform? Let me know!

I've been pondering about creating EventSourcing, CQRS & DDD scaffolding from scratch in TypeScript.
There doesn't seem to be an OpenSource basic scaffolding for this using RxJS? ( I mean the basic bang like NgRx ).
DDD -> NgRx
- Command -> Action ( in imperative )
- Command Handler -> Effect
- Domain Event -> Action ( in past tense )
- Aggregate state -> a Store entry
- Aggregate state's apply -> Reducer
Did I get this right?
