HELIX, one of the payloads taking part of the transatlantic NASA balloon launch campaign in Sweden is currently passing its compatibility test.

The test is to assure that the telemetry and communications systems do not interfere with the experiment and viceversa.

Swedish Space Corporation is transmiting live the test via Youtube but to be honest there is not much action to see.

SEARCHING FOR COSMIC RAYS 40 KM ABOVE GROUND

Meet HELIX a balloon-borne experiment developed at the University of Chicago, designed to measure the chemical and isotopic abundances of light cosmic ray nuclei.

The instrument will be launched this Summer from Sweden to Canada in a NASA stratospheric balloon

The HELIX detector is a mass spectrometer, built around a 1 Tesla superconducting magnet and a high-resolution tracking system to determine particle rigidity

Image of the balloon that carried the FIREBALL UV telescope. The mission was launched from NASA's balloon base in Fort Sumner New Mexico, but experienced an anomaly and was terminated earlier than expected.

The balloon was found on a ranch in an unknown location in New Mexico on September 26, 2023.

A few minutes after my previous post is clear that the launch attempt has been scrubbed for today.

The EXCITE telescope is being returned to the high bay building.
