A bonus with activating #CTCSS *and* #tonesquelch (beware, its also possible to also set just CTCSS on TX and leave RX with no tone which may or may not be what you want) is the direct conversion RX on the #Baofeng with near 0 selectivity (these flaws are all "covered up" with DSP) no longer makes a racket when my car key fob is transmitting, as there is no CTCSS tone present to open squelch (maybe this is why #Retevis always activate it on their similarly priced radios?) #PMR446 #UHF #radio

#CTCSS and #tonesquelch coded on these #Baofeng #PMR446 using #CHIRP so they work with #Retevis sets which all have preset CTCSS and DCS activated out of the box.

Baofengs have to have this activated, or else you can transmit on the channel but the Retevis won't open squelch #radio #UHF

Do you know the #Yaesu FT-817ND? I have a question on tone squelch (#CTCSS) and programming the transceiver (#CHIRP or #FTBasicMMO), because I'm seeing odd behaviour while trying to work a repeater. Feedback appreciated! #FT817
