@GreenRoc also this is where #YouTube's #Enshittification really kicked in because they refused to acknowledge the diversity was what made YouTube big, instead wanting to #enshittifiy itself into #US-style #CableTV bullshit!

  • So instead they pissed off all the big creators to go with #Nebula and #Floatplane and whatever else there is, and now are stuck with #AiSlop-"Machineguns", #cringe content that is more traumatizing than "child-friendly" and everyone who doesn't have the money to buy fake plays and fake subscribers to get bif sponsorship deals.

As more and more time passes, I think it's undeniable that #StreamingServices are just becoming the new #CableTV subscription.

I mean, the latest round is #Disney having a contract dispute with #YouTube for #YouTubeTV. I remember when I was younger how there used to be TV disputes with cable companies. Streaming service subscriptions keep increasing in price. My parents are now paying close to $100 for our legacy #Hulu TV subscription (which includes live TV, Hulu, ESPN select, and Disney+). I even remember when we first got a #Roku and tried out various streaming services that had live TV as cable was just getting too expensive. We finally settled on Hulu (as it seems), but to me, this feels like déjà vu all over again.

Unfortunately, due to my family's financial struggles, we've had to forego our Hulu subscription at times, but luckily, we have a live TV antenna, so we didn't go completely without live TV. The only reason why we have Hulu, according to my mom, is because they have some good shows at least.

Now what about my live streaming preferences? I would get by watching YouTube as I got a good list of various YouTube channels that I watch. I don't watch them regularly, though, but I will watch them though. Pair that with a live TV antenna, and personally, I'm good to go. One of these days, though, I figured I can build a multimedia server for them, and maybe one that can include live TV via a tuner card or something, but for right now, I'll keep it as a thought in my mind.

Anyways, thank you for listening to today's random thoughts!

@Eka_FOOF_A @moira #decentralized, from-the-ground-up #news and actual #journalism can thrive.

The hardest part is to get "#Normies" to consider checking out these media offerings and support them and cut the #cableTV / #CableNews #disinfo machine...
