It is not clear to me whether the #Califone CAR2020 is still a thing? I guess it was manufactured recently enough for various sites to have inventory slots for it but seems to be generally unavailable.

I mean first of all the '#califone Card Reader' is a weird and cool thing I'd never heard of, a teaching/learning tool for playing (and recording?) audio onto magnetic strips on what appear to be punchcard format cards

But they're looping audio on 3.5" floppy media and it's pushing all of my #optigan buttons

for US folk, #Coomber is the UK equivalent of #Califone (they also made solid AV equipment for #schools that always looked a decade or two out of date) - in the case of Coomber (which lasted as an AV company until 2023) their managing director said this was deliberate, as when a school got burgled their equipment was often left alone as it was considered "too old" 😁
