You know these spells and rituals where it is required to light a candle or tea light and let it burn down completely? Well, f**k that.
Tea lights need at least 4 hours to burn down. Any larger candle burns longer than that.
The only candles I know which really burn down fast (ca. 30 minutes or less) are these slim small birthday cake candles, but I don't like those.
So instead, I light candles for rituals and spells and extinguish them either after the ritual is done or some time after that. And then I re-use them until they have burned down completely some day.
Another point here is that I cannot afford so many candles, one for every spell or ritual. I also think that this is not very sustainable.

Some thoughts about candle magic
For years, my daily practice has looked like this:
Lighting two different candles or tea lights for two different causes and saying respective prayers. Then, after 15 to 20 minutes, I extinguish the flames because I cannot afford to let candles (or tea lights) burn completely down on a daily basis.
Also, I am a spoonie witch, so I cannot sit down each day and meditate for one hour or things like that. But even with low energy, I manage to light those candles and say a prayer. (And when I am not a home, I say those prayers in my mind, silently.)
These days, in an increasingly dystopian world, I started to light two more candles daily, for more causes and saying prayers. Along with that, I also light an incense stick (only one per day).
Today, the thought came to my mind that I could basically also light one large candle each day for a while, instead of all those small ones. And then say all those different prayers over that single candle.
I could also put the candle in a big glass container and glue or paint respective symbols or sigils on it, for all those causes.
One of these is a rather personal one, all the others are about or for other people, in support of them (for instance, a social justice topic).
So I guess it would make sense to have two candles: One for the personal matter, the other one combined for the other causes.

Did some candle work today. I usually carve Elder Futhark runes and use a charcoal oil mix for the black lettering.
I light these candles when I’m calling the assistants, energy, power or audience of the pagan gods and goddesses I work with or my ancestors.
I get my candles from thrift shops mostly. I know I’m taking a chance not knowing what wax is being burned but it’s more cost efficient and sustainable for me now than other options.

Been awhile since I did any #quickwitchcraft posts, but I thought I’d share a simple candle spell I do. Pick a candle of the color of your intention or a white candle for all purpose, hold the candle in hands and focus on your intent and final result you desire and send that energy into the candle. Light the candle and clearly state your intention, sit quietly and watch the flame while thinking on your intent. When finished, allow candle to burn out.
