Full disclosure: I watch a LOT of #tvshows and sometimes films via streaming services: #Netflix #AppleTVPlus #DisneyPlus #NowTV #AmazonPrime #BBCPrime #ITVPlus #ChannelFour #MUBI #itunes and lots of #Youtube videos too. That’s what I mostly use twitter for. My first years over there were consumed by my obsession with #DoctorWho and, still, most of my followers there are #whovians. But my obsession only lasted while #RussellTDavies was in charge. I used to love #Torchwood too. I stopped caring after #RTD and #DT left.

Used to watch the #BBC for its educational programmes, and avoid #ITV due to the seeming triviality of some of theirs. Then #ChannelFour came along and was quite the novelty for a while, then it grew up a little and started having some good programming. #ChannelFive arrived and seems to have taken the triviality/banality title for its very own.
In the meantime, the BBC seems to have taken a nose-dive into dumbing-down output, while some of ITV's actually respect their audience's intelligence.
