Have I mentioned here how much I love the All Set Learning Chinese Grammar Wiki? resources.allsetlearning.com/c

There is SO MUCH grammar here! It's categorised by HSK level *and* CEFR level, and then by parts of speech, grammatical structures and comparisons of similar grammar points. The explanations are clear and there are lots of examples. It's amazing!

#ZhangGongAn but mostly #ChineseLearning: it’s so satisfying to see patterns you just learnt in class in a real text. 😊

(It's this: resources.allsetlearning.com/c)

Excerpt of text in Chinese and then English. Wang Yan says, 人,一个都不能伤 (not even one person may be hurt).

Got spurred on to try new #ChineseLearning materials thanks to a conversation with @bookstardust, specifically listening, since that’s the hardest skill for me. I listened to three episodes of #ChinesePod while walking at lunchtime and it seems quite good so far.

The website is at chinesepod.com/ and they have a whole paid learning system, but you can listen to the audio lessons as a podcast, e.g. this one about Qingming: podcasts.apple.com/ch/podcast/, chinesepod.com/lesson/tomb-swe

Aaah, I’ve just found a new way to practice my Chinese! I downloaded this game ages ago: Teahouse of the Gods by Naca Rat, choiceofgames.com/teahouse/. Just started playing it and discovered you can set the Chinese dialogue to render in hanzi or pinyin, rather than English!

In the foreground, a mysterious, silver-haired character smiles at the viewer.Screenshot from the game, explaining that your response to the question, “Do you speak Chinese?” will determine the appearance of Chinese dialogue: Chinese characters, pinyin, or minimal Chinese text.Screenshot from the game, where description is in English but the characters’ Chinese conversation is shown in hanzi.

Sometimes I question some of my decisions as a mom. My daughter (8) has learnt to talk back using Chinese idioms and I'm like 🤷‍♀️

I guess I should basically be happy I'm doing a good job?

Very much enjoyed today's #Chinese lesson! :blobaww:

A.o., I learnt 画 "huà" (to write; to draw; to paint // writing; drawing; painting) and 打 "dǎ" (to hit; to strike; to slap; to beat).

画 is a little landscape, the bottom of a mountain, then a (rice) field and the sky above. 🖼️ 👩‍🎨

Beating is using your hand 手 (丁 is for pronunciation), and can also be about martial arts, e.g. dǎ tàijíquán - "doing Tai Chi", or about fetching, e.g. dǎ shuǐ - "fetching water".

Spending my morning in perfect bliss, learning (a bit about) #korean , #japanese and #chinese ... did six pages in total, finished chapter 1 of Marigoto A2 and followed my curiousity about the names of the days of the week. :blobcatsurprised:
