Took 13-yr-old granddaughter to hear #ClevelandOrchestra play #Ravel's version of "Pictures at an Exhibition." Stellar performance! Also heard Ravel's piano concerto with #VikingurOlafsson. Again, a fabulous performance. We're so lucky to live 30 miles from all this culture.

Now reached CD 58 in the complete Szell Columbia box. Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony is given sunny and glowing treatment by Szell and his glorious players. The outer movements have magnificent vitality.
