Some Compass Box additions from a few weeks ago that I photographed but never got around to posting.

This is The Traveling Circus, the first Compass Box Travel retail release. I've been trying to get this for a while, and another CB fan came through and was able to grab me one while traveling through JFK. I won't call them out, as I don't want them getting hassled, but I very much appreciate it.

The other item is a patch to celebrate the release of Flaming Heart 25th Anniversary Edition, a gift for members of The Blending Room.

I recently received many months worth of auction winnings that I'd been building up in storage. I'm glad I shipped them when I did, as now most of the auction houses have paused all shipments to the US while they figure out the tariff situation. I have other bottles still in the UK & EU and who knows when I'll be able to ship those - and if it'll cost me more now.

There was a bit of Compass Box - a Mariage Single Marrying Cask, an Eleuthera, The Peat Monster (second bottling I believe), The Peat Monster Reserve Edition magnum, the inaugural 2006 Flaming Heart release (the last one I was missing), Transistor, and The Promise Blend.

And then a bunch of Glenmorangie - three vintage releases from 1974, 1975, and 1979, The Culloden Bottle, 1990 Single Cask #5979 First-Fill Bourbon, 18 year White Rum finish, and Distillery Exclusive Cask 1784.

A nice surprise from Compass Box Whisky arrived today, going out to members of The Blending Room.

A welcome box with a pin, tasting journal, pencil, and four lovely glass coasters.

And, since I'm posting CB swag, I was also recently gifted a set of four glass coasters with the Hedonism 2025 label art. Very nice and greatly appreciated. I won't thank the person by name as I don't want them hounded.

In addition to the Whisky and Ink, I picked up a few other Compass Box Whisky bottles.

From the left is a Great King Street Experimental Batch TR-06, one of two such experiments. I've had the other for a while but finally snagged this one.

Then I picked up back-up bottles of Hedonism Quindecimas & Felicitas, as my open bottles are getting low, they're favorites, and they went for shockingly low bids. Too good to pass up.

And lastly is a bottle of The Lost Blend. This was released with three different labels. I had one, this is the second, and I recently picked up the third at another auction, but it hasn't shipped yet.

I'm very excited about this one. This is one of the harder-to-obtain Compass Box Whisky expressions, Whisky and Ink. It was a collaboration between Compass Box and Collotype Labels, and it is gorgeous. The photos didn't really do the label justice as it is embossed and has three dimensions to the design.

I'll follow-up with more photos.

I've been waiting for this and it's finally hitting stores in MA! But distribution seems to be very limited. I only grabbed one to give others a chance for a bottle. I'll try it and maybe I'll pick up another one if they're still in stock later.

There are some auction sites which won't ship to MA, so I have to have them sent to a very kind friend in CT who is willing to accept shipments on my behalf. He's been holding a few for me for a while, and we were able to meet up today at WhiskyMentors in Canterbury, CT.

All told I brought home 14 bottles from auctions, and one I picked up while I was there. I'll break it up into separate posts.

One of the bottles I picked up is a back-up bottle of Compass Box Whisky Hedonism Felicitas, the 20th Anniversary Release from 2020. My open bottle is getting low, and this is a good one.

And the special thing about this lot was that it included a commemorative coin, of which I was previously unaware. On one side of has a large '20' with the Compass Box logo inside the 0, with 'Felicitas 2000-2020' above and 'Reinventing Scotch Whisky Since 2000' below.

And on the other side it says 'The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world - are the ones who do'.

Very nice.

I'm no professional reviewer, but this is my take.

It's honeyed sweetness on the nose, with a hint of wood spice. It's similar in the palate. Very thick and creamy mouth feel, a honey-like sweetness, but not cloying. Soft and round, it doesn't drink as hot as the proof might imply. The higher proof keeps the sweetness from being overwhelming.

The finish has a little bit of creamy spice and the sweetness lingers in a pleasant way.

A very easy sipper with no harsh edges. Not challenging, but a nice dram to relax with.

Compass Box Whisky recently released a bespoke bottling, Architectonics, through La Maison du Whisky - LMDW in France, as part of their Foundations Collection. While it is available to order online, they do not ship to the US. However, they do ship to the UK.

Knowing we were traveling to the UK and would be meeting friends, I took the opportunity to order a couple to ship to said friends. And now they've made it home with me.

I also picked up their 2025 Foundations catalog. I don't read a word of French, but we have the technology to translate things.

Last, but far from least, Compass Box Whisky "Share, Enjoy, Celebrate!". A Japan-only release that I managed to obtain thanks to several kind coworkers who were willing to accept the delivery in Tokyo, bring it to our Seattle office, and hold it for me until I could pick it up this week as I passed through on the way home from vacation.

Some recent acquisitions from Julio's Liquors.

A couple of weeks ago, Cape Horn Tequila was in for Whiskey Wednesday Gone Wild. Not only was their product fantastic, as evidenced by my purchase, their story is incredible and inspiring. This past week, Whiskey Wednesday was High Wire Distilling Co. Everything we tried was made from 100% heirloom Jimmy Red corn, which has a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. I brought home the Classic, Straight Bourbon Whiskey. We also tried their Bottled in Bond and Oloroso Sherry Finished Bourbon, which were also great.

And the 10th Anniversary BiB, which wasn't available for purchase, but I liked enough to special order. We also got to try their Belleville Rye, which isn't available yet but will be arriving in MA soon. I plan to pick that up, it's very different and I thought it was great.

While I was there for High Wire I also picked up the two new Compass Box expressions which had just arrived - Nectarosity and Crimson Casks. I was able to try both a few weeks ago through a special tasting, and I've been looking forward to their arrival.

And lastly, we're planning a little Octoberfest gathering in a month. While the focus will be beer, I thought it might be fun to have a few other German offerings on hand. I grabbed Nassau Whisky Single Malt and Berentzen Apple Liqueur.

I've been sitting on bottles from Whisky Auctioneer for over six months as the shipping cost per bottle drops significantly as the number of bottles increases. I recently pulled the trigger on shipping and by last week everything had arrived - just in time for me to get sick. I finally opened it all tonight.

I picked up a number of Glenmorangie. The Maltman's Special Reserve 18 year. MH Private Europe 21 Year Cask 9. 1993 Swamp Oak Single Cask. 1991 Mount Everest bottling. The Scotch Malt Whisky Society 125.27 & 125.75. Crom 16 year Westport Warlords & Warriors Edition Thulsa's Choice. And Wilson & Morgan 18 year Westport.

Compass Box also got some love. I picked up Hedonism Maximus - the market release as I already have the LWDW bottling. Two additional bottlings of the standard Hedonism from 2018 & 2019. Canto Cask 17 & 124 - that brings me up to 8 of the 16. The Nectar 10th Anniversary release (I have the 15th). The "Double Single" original Craigellachie Hotel release from 2004. The Peat Monster 2008 bottling. And D is for Demi John.

And then a smattering of others. A Clase Azul Mezcal San Luis Potosi. Amrut Single Malt Rye - the first ever Indian Single Malt Rye. Three Clan Denny Single Grain bottlings - Garnheath 43 year, Invergordon 47 year, and Dumbarton 48 year. Wild Turkey 13 year Distiller's Reserve. Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition - a second bottle as I've shared my first at a few tastings and it is getting low. And, last but not least, a non-auction bottle from Julio's Liquors, Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye "Si" for the Loch & Key Whisk(e)y Society.

There were four other bottles, but those are for others.
