๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Secure your automated app deployments with #CrowdSec and #Coolify.

Coolify is a popular open source, self-hosted platform for deploying apps, and securing it should always be a top priority.

CrowdSec adds an extra layer of protection, blocking malicious IPs and unwanted traffic.

I have Coolify building my site and rsync-ing the build output to a separate LAMP server. There was a recent bug in a release that broke compatibility with Nixpacks that broke my previous deployment configuration. To the Coolify team's credit they pushed out a fix within hours (and noted that Nixpacks often has issues where it may...

The #Coolify folks got a breaking bug report and fixed it in under 2 hours which is all kinds of impressive.

Open-source hipsters have blessed us with yet another buzzword salad: Coolify! ๐ŸŒฟโœจ Now you can self-host your own slow, buggy version of Heroku and feel superior about it. ๐Ÿ™„ And don't forget to check out their sponsorsโ€”because nothing screams "self-hosted" like corporate ads. ๐Ÿ’ธ

I wasn't aware of the checkbox "Preverse repository during deployment", which is needed for mounts like this

I see people are getting their #LaravelCloud bills, I looked at it, thought it was great for the right use cases, but, for me local #coolify is a more sensible option for dev and testing. #php #laravel

Learned a bit more about Docker Compose from developer colleagues today - aaand I wasn't aware that I can easily select "Docker Compose" as buildpack option for a (private) Git repository on #Coolify. ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ก

Good morning Fedi friends!

After my self-hosting woes (I had to delete my ready-to-go Ghost blog on my site because it was on Debian/mariaDB... after 3 weeks of work on it, then failed to properly install Ghost with command lines on Ubuntu) I am ready to dive into my new VPS again. Turns out, after 48 hours you forget about the frustrations you felt.

It's a new day ๐ŸŒž

A couple of things to report: within 5 minutes of publishing my previous toot (see above), I got TWO offers to help me analyze/fix what went wrong with my Ghost installation over a call. By two people I really admire on here. This is the BEST, most generous community โค๏ธ

Now, because of time zone differences and scheduling issues I have yet to have that phone call. But this morning when I woke up I poked around my VPS dashboard and saw that I can do the following things:

  1. wipe the contents of my Ubuntu VPS (the one with the botched Ghost installation) and re-install any OS I'd like... at the touch of a button.

  2. re-install on the VPS an OS with a panel, like #Coolify or #Dokploy or several others.

Since I'm a Linux newbie who got really frustrated looking around my botched Ghost installation the first time around I would like to manage my system with an interface that simplifies my job.

So my question is: what's your opinion of Coolify? Yay or nay?

Thanks in advance!

I just put Cloudflare in front of all my self hosted sites. That was on the to do list for quite some time!

Next I need to figure out how to do 404 redirects in Coolify for my Eleventy sites.
