Happy to report solving another 5 star variant Sudoku. This always takes me hours and lots of staring, but hey, entering that last digit and getting confirmation that the solution is correct is SO rewarding. (and I have a great partner in valacd where we bounce back and forth our thoughts over instant messaging).

I was always told that Dutch people have a tendency to make a verb out of many words, a practice my #English speaking friends didn't really understand. Or appreciate.
"Speeching" was a common word in Dutch #Toastmasters clubs, for example. I remember them not being too keen on "biking" as well.

Now my puzzle has the word "pogromed"?
And last week, #CrackingTheCryptic used "I don't want to be scylla-and-charybdised"?

@heatsink assuming uniqueness to help solving a puzzle is considered cheating by the Cracking the Cryptic team 🙂

Consider Row 8 column 5 instead: if you pencilmark that you will have options 4,6,9.
Now you have 4 fields in column 5 for the four digits 2,4,6,9, which means that row 7 column 5 cannot be 2 anymore, and go from there.

I'm a patreon member of #crackingthecryptic and so today was treated to the new monthly sudoku pack, entitled "Regeneration". And, somewhat sadly, I did all six puzzles, apparently being only the 19th to solve the last of the six puzzles. I found them to be a bit easier than some of the previous puzzle packs, with only one taking a full hour, and most taking about thirty minutes. Fun stuff!

Just spent far too long on #CrackingTheCryptic May Patreon challenge grid 3. I couldn’t disambiguate it at all. I ended up clearing it and restarting, and I seemed to somehow not make the same mistake the second time around. Still took me 55 minutes though. But I do like this “Oil and Water” #Sudoku variant

Got caught in the #CrackingTheCryptic #Sudoku channel, and now trying some of my own.

I'm learning new levels of frustration.

Before I give up I’m going to ask the internet for a hint on this #crackingthecryptic variant #sudoku puzzle ‘Framed’ (from the lines pack). I feel like I’m missing something wrt the modular lines in the killer cages? I just can’t find a way to invalidate either of the two possible sums in either cage.

Normally the rule of thumb on YouTube is "don't look in the comments section", but Cracking the Cryptic is so wholesome. Here we have champion Sudoku solvers speed-solving wickedly difficult variant Sudoku puzzles, and when someone who's halfway decent at solving medium-difficulty classic Sudoku asks a question, they are taken seriously and given a proper explanation. There is no elitism or bullying. No rudeness, not even impatience. All skill levels are welcome in the comments so long as, per Simon Anthony's request, they are kind.
