Update on the #dccrash from the NTSB. https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/Documents/Feb.14.2025_Briefing_Mid-air_Collision%20near%20DCA.pdf
Some slight shade casted on the FAA, who approved the route.
Very much looks like an accident, the Blackhawk
- Did not hear the direction from the AtC to specifically "go behind" the landing CRJ as their mic was keyed at that exact moment.
- It seems that there were some discrepancies regarding the Blackhawks altitude. The route had a very small margin of error. 2a. The NTSB was seeing "conflicting information in the data" in regards to the Blackhawk's altitude which is why they did not release the altitude for the Blawkhawk yet. 2b. "The pilot flying indicated they were at 300 feet. The instructor pilotindicated they were at 400 feet. Neither pilot made a comment discussing analtitude discrepancy. At this time, we do not know why there is a discrepancybetween the two; the investigative team is exploring this."
