Sen. Alex Padilla was handcuffed for asking a question. His words hit hard: “If they fear one senator, imagine the power of tens of millions peacefully protesting.” Democracy thrives on voices, not silence. ✊📢

A graphic with a red background featuring the silhouettes of people protesting shown in lighter red at the bottom. There is a quote from Sen. Alex Padilla: “But if this administration is this afraid of just one senator with a question, imagine what the voices of tens of millions of Americans peacefully protesting can do.”

Juneteenth is a celebration of June 19th 1865, the day when the last enslaved African Americans in the United States were informed of their emancipation. We reaffirm and rededicate ourselves to ensuring freedom and justice for all on this special day.

A photo of President Barack Obama is at the left on a solid green background. Obama is quoted as saying “Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory, or an acceptance of the way things are. It’s a celebration of progress. It’s an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possible - and there is still so much work to do.”

Pride is celebration—but it’s also resistance. 🏳️‍🌈

While we honor the progress made, the fight is far from over. This Administration and Republican leaders are actively working to roll back LGBTQIA+ rights—from attacking trans healthcare to undermining marriage equality and beyond.

Celebrate Pride loudly, but also:
✅ VOTE in every election
✅ Hold lawmakers accountable
✅ Amplify marginalized voices

Text under that says Let’s celebrate Pride Month but the fight continues. “One Big Beautiful Bill” (May 22, 2925) Bans the use of federal funds for gender-affirming care. In the Senate…use your voice to stop it!” At the bottom, are directions to Take Action at DemocratsAbroad.org/take_action.

Democracy dies when we stay silent. It’s time to stand up, speak out, and reclaim our power. 🗳️✊
Your voice. Your vote. Your duty.

A graphic from Democrats Abroad features a quote on civic engagement from Governor Gavin Newsom, dated June 10, 2025. On a dark blue background with protest silhouettes and raised signs along the bottom, the quote reads:
“It’s time for all of us to stand up. Justice Brandeis said it best: in a democracy, the most important office is not president, it’s certainly not governor. The most important office is office of citizen.”
Large quotation marks and clean white text highlight the message of collective responsibility in a democracy.

In a world of noise, we need news we can trust. @Reuters delivers facts—not agendas, not algorithms, just rigorously reported truth. When misinformation spreads, their journalism remains a beacon.
