Here's a totally off-the-cuff pitch for the #p2p web: I just want to be able to load a webpage from a #bittorrent swarm by leeching, and then click an "I approve" button if it looks non-sketchy and I want to seed the page. I want to bookmark magnet links to make human-readable URLs and allow collisions between actual names/content to be decided socially (e.g. click to accept a new version of this page from this new swarm). I don't want a bunch of new protocols. No #crypto for domain names or donations. No vibe-coded corporate-sponsored AI BS. No #GitHub repos. Just give me the wild west with everything visible and no default seeding so that bad actors don't bother with it so much. Run it through a #VPN or something if you want privacy.

@rabble @racchio Thanks for that (RE fiatjaf), I'd forgotten the name & I am aware this is the more problematic topic than taking money from Dorsey.
I think there's nuance to be had in using tech from people we disagree with. Personally, I'll *use* it, but only if I can do so whilst giving NOTHING back. And that can be quite hard, because it means restraining from things like bug reports when you bump up against rough edges.
It is a systemic problem that talent and expertise end up pooled around cliques of hateful people, who increasingly have disproportionate access to mentorship and expertise over time as they push diverse contributors away. I have seen that happen in basically every community in #DWeb, save the scant couple of under-funded projects prepared to assert a culture of inclusion and maintain strong boundaries around conduct.
