Picked up a cheap(-ish) ticket for the opening night of #Dead60 last night.
I will start with the good:
- As a cultural event it was cool to see, a gathering of enthusiastic fans from teens to 70s+.
- Picked up a decent long-sleeved tie dye at a decent-long-sleeved-tie-dye price ($50).
- Saw a couple of friends.
- #BMFS great as always.
- Grahame Lesh sitting in to sing Box of Rain. Tone and phrasing evoked his dad's singing, in a good way.
The bad:
- GA shows are tough for me. No matter where I was, seemed like a constant stream of people pushing past, on their way to or from somewhere else. When nothing is an aisle, everything is an aisle.
- #DeadCo Sadly, this band is just not good. Even having heard the criticism over the years, I was not prepared for how little Mayer brings to this music as a guitarist. His solos never went beyond a couple of cliched blues licks. Just shockingly boring. Chimenti doesn't do much for me either. Rhythm section is decent.
