I went to Melbourne Park near York today.The racers are on their way or are at Santa Pod by now. However this was on of the best meetings I've been to at Melbourne. Racing all day with relatable cars. Full on street legal Drag Monsters, one of specials for the event and tuner cars. Just a brilliant day's racing. A best ET time meant everyone was trying hard all day.

Damien Harris just set a new Australian TF top speed record - 333mph (535kmh). Exciting times in Aussie top fuel, records falling at almost every event.
Then we go from that to Josh Leahy almost in tears of joy about a personal best in the nitro funny cars.
Every race is its own story in this sport. Everyone's chasing something, from a win to just trying to get to the end of the track, and it's just as important to them as the story in the next lane.
For all my kvetching about being at home instead of at the drag strip, I did just get to watch a top fuel run while getting a cuddle from my ginger tabby. That is a somewhat unusual combination.

There'll be a lot of work finding that 0.042s and 6.98mph but that's what racing is all about.
Yesterday in qualifying the Rapisardas put in a side-by-side pass with one team setting a PB and the other setting a new Australian Top Fuel record: Damien Harris drove 3.683s at 331.96mph (534.23kph), making it the quickest AND fastest 1000 foot pass in Australia.

Of course three races in one day wasn't enough for me, I've kept it on FS1 after NASCAR so I can watch the #NHRA racing in Phoenix I believe. I'm often too exhausted from a day of racing or just the often primetime TV schedule of drag racing, but this one came on earlier than usual tonight.
