Die rechtsextreme französische Gruppierung Reconquête hat bei der EU-Wahl fünf Sitze gewonnen, jedoch kurz darauf vier der neugewählten Parlamentarier – mit Ausnahme von Knafo, Lebensgefährtin von Reconquête-Chef Éric Zemmour – ausgeschlossen, darunter auch Spitzenkandidatin Marion Maréchal. Diese vier sitzen nun in der Konservativen-Fraktion EKR.

Na das hat sich ja gelohnt für die Partei.

I don’t love how the Dublin #EU24 turned out, but I’m relieved that Niall Boylan wasn’t elected. Still, it’s disquieting that he was so close to being voted in at all.

Now, since the whole of Dublin’s electorate has experienced
a) an enormous scroll of a ballot paper
b) more candidates than you can shake a stick at
c) an absolute head melt of a 190 count cliff hanger result:
you may all consider yourselves Dublin Bay Northers from now on.

Sorry to see @Ciarancuffe lose his #EU24 seat in #Dublin. He's done some good work over the last few years and doesn't deserve the loss. If the govt and press had done more to call out the #farright (and I include Boylan N in that) we'd have a far more pleasant country than #ireland is becoming.

Ciaran Cuffe from the Green Party has been excluded in count 18 in Dublin and lost his seat in the European Parliament.

This comes on the back of South Dublin County Council not having any Green councillors elected.

In any sane election, Labour and the Social Democrats would transfer to the Greens, but this didn't happen in the locals in Waterford. You'd expect FG to throw the Greens a bone too, what with the whole not being Nazis or SF thing.
But Funchion will get direct SF transfers, Ní Mhurchú and McNamara on bigger numbers and Mick Wallace, who knows?
