To kick off our speaker announcements that will be going for the next couple of weeks as we have a lot of speakers to tell you about.

I saw a first version of this talk at ElixirConf EU and I look forward to Anita Ludermann sharing her story of Elixir adoption even more widely.

Today's AI Struggle? An #elixir #phoenix app in the works. I decided I should encrypt a database field (an api access token) before I got too far along.

AI, what do you recommend? cloak_echo. Transparent encrypt/decrypt if you set up the machinery correctly? Cool -- let's give it a go.

At some point in testing i accidentally got an encrypted copy of the token into the database -- resulting in a double-encryption. Testing of API calls naturally failed. Skipping forward, AI was going in circles and got that resolved by adding a manual decryption after pulling the field. "Wait, isn't this module supposed to do this transparently?" "Why, yes, you're absolutely right! Let's remove the secondary decrypt..." "Now it fails; it worked before." "Oh, I'm sorry. I was mistaken. The module actually does require the secondary decryption; I'll add it."

At some point, I speculated there was a double encryption mishap. "Let's write the token in the expected path way." AI in Agent Mode? "Right, sure, let me add a manual call to decrypt back into the code."

In Agent Mode, there is no "Noooooooooo!!!!!"

It's all resolved now. What a nightmare...

... but still not unlike conference call debugging with folks describing what they see on the screen and their hands clicking away -- sometimes typing what you say.

🤔

「 Compiled Elixir code is executed in the client-side AtomVM runtime. Popcorn offers APIs for interactions between Elixir and JavaScript, handling serialization and communication, as well as ensuring browser responsiveness 」

Hello all!

It’s been a little while 😅

I’ve been working on this site: armitagesarchive.com

It started as a way to learn #elixir and the #PhoenixFramework — but it’s turned into something I’m genuinely proud of.

The goal is simple: a design-forward, minimalist way to browse all the highlights I’ve made from books and articles over the years.

If you're curious about the design choices (fonts, stack, intent), check out: armitagesarchive.com/colophon

Would love to hear what you think.

Quick #elixir question..

I'm going through a pretty new course that has things like

<%= variable %>

But realize my lsp is auto correcting that to

{ variable }

But there are still times where it keeps <% ... %>

I feel like i'm missing something...

Fantastic article from Andrea Leopardi about singletons, ownership and async tests. I didn't know about the ProcessTree package (I thought this has to be done manually using $callers).

Well, I can at least be confident that no matter what - my elixir docs will be better than Google's elixir docs - but its an incredibly low bar.

José helps debug the demo :D

Audacious demo, a bit rough, but I like the courage.
