Environmental groups welcome EPAs rejection of Woodside's proposed Browse Gas project

Leading environmental groups have welcomed the Western Australian environment protection authority’s (EPA) rejection of fossil fuel giant Woodside’s proposed Browse Gas project.

Scott Reef, off the coast of Western Australia, is described as ecologically extraordinary with more than 1,500 species documented across its formations, many unique to the area. It is considered an important resting and feeding area for migrating pygmy blue whales, manta rays, whale sharks, migratory birds, and green turtle hatchlings.

The wonderful Scott Reef, off the Kimberley Coast of Western Australia.

A tower of colourful coral grows beneath the deep blue ocean. The living coral, in shades of yellow, orange and red, reaches up toward the sunlit turquoise waters above like the delicate branches of a tree. Below is a bed of older coral reflecting a neon green glow. A variety of fish and sea life can be seen swimming behind and above the coral.
