This #genre is called Séga, a #music linked to formerly enslaved people and used for #dance, #dirges, and #exorcisms. The #vocals are intense and emotive, and the #style #percussion-heavy, borrowing instruments both from #India and #Africa. In the associated dance, the feet never leave the floor.
