In the Fantasy AGE Companion, there's an additional playable ancestry called the Oreans, which are basically sentient fantasy robots.
I've been adapting their description for Blue Rose. I don't even know whether I'll end up using them, but here's what I've got.
I don't think it's a stretch to add them to Aldea, since even the introductory adventure included in the corebook mentions functioning clockwork creatures.
==========
Oreans are living beings made of metal, stone and wood, in different proportions depending on the individual, but all of them powered by a single shas crystal deeply embedded in their internal anatomy. The ancient arcane science that makes their existence possible has so far proven impossible to replicate.
They are humanoid in shape and stand from five to seven feet tall. Individual oreans vary in appearance, depending on the design principles chosen by their forgotten creator; one orean may be made of finely sculpted blocks of marble with an uncanny human golden faceplate with many mobile components; another might have a kind of translucent glassy frame filled with shiny components refracting the light of their inner shas crystal; and another could look like a wood mannequin, inlaid with precious metals, who loves to drape themselves in long fabrics of clashing colors.
Through extensive examination by highly-skilled adepts, two crucial facts have been ascertained about oreans: each one harbors a living soul from the Eternal Dance, and they don’t inherently register as sorcerous. As such, they are recognised as being part of the natural order - unlike the abhorrent undead.
About three years ago, an increasing number of reports came in from all over the continent of strange mechanical beings wandering at the edge of civilisation. In Jarzon, a tragic number of them were summarily murdered as soldiers were sent to deal with what they saw as a new sorcerous threat. In Kern, the lucky ones were killed ; others were captured to be studied, never to be seen again. Only in places like Aldis and Rezea were these new people approached in a peaceful -if cautious- manner. They became known as Oreans and, to this day, their exact origin is still a mystery. Who created them? Who hid them in those pods, and to what ancient, unfathomable purpose? And why did they all start waking up around the time Queen Jaellin finally put an end to the Lich-King Jarek?
Their beginnings are always the same: somewhere in a remote area, an orean wakes up from a sarcophagus, alone or, more rarely, in a small group. They have no recollection of anything before that point but they know how to walk, how to talk (though rarely a language anyone still speaks, so they have to learn the languages that people are willing to teach them), and possess instinctual knowledge of various skills and talents. Some will claw their way to the surface through centuries of soil; others will awaken in the crumbled remains of an ancient facility deep in some mountain, and roam the forgotten -and if they're lucky, empty- halls until they find themselves outside.
Like the Vata'sha and Night People before them, Oreans have been more successful finding a home in Aldis than anywhere else (except maybe, for those not made of heavy materials, in Rezea, where they’ve taken to riding with the best of them). Like any other people, they can express a variety of personalities, from outgoing to reclusive, from moody to joyous. Oreans can't reproduce, but it hasn't prevented them from forming meaningful and loving relationship with others, be they human, vata, seafolk, rhydan, or orean like themselves.
