Current status of my #FED2camera repair project: completely new shutter built from the scratch is installed and it seems to be working somehow. However I have no device to test the shutter speed. I have tried to use my iPhone 240fps and the video shows the 1/500 speed will probably have the same flaw as my first #Fed2 - the slit is narrower at the start of the frame. We will see after the first film tests

My #FED2camera reincarnation project is moving forward. The new shutter curtains are made from scratch from the rubbered sheet of silk. Trying to find the proper glue points I learnt the skill how to quickly assemble the shutter box and verify it in camera. The second curtain (drum curtain) is already glued. The first will be probably more challenging but I hope I will manage it.

A few weeks ago, I posted my success with the #FED2camera fix.
This week I bought another one - declared as non-functional, just for spare parts. My goal is to make it work again. The first stage - complete disassembly is done. The more difficult part begins....

In-out or out-in? A weird pipe.

@coldkennels @carusb @bosak Interesting. I used L-208 the last week with #FED2camera and the all frames are consistently and properly exposed. I used it in reflection mode exclusively. I tested L-208 against my Pentax ME and they matched.

This is the follow-up of my #FED2camera story:
after a short holiday I finally developed the test film taken after I did camera CLA myself. All the 36 frames looked good on the strip but after scanning it turns out that the 1/500 speed leaves lighter (on negative) strip on side. It is on "starting" side of the shutter blades. Other speeds are OK and quite precise - I measured light with my lightmeter as not to mess up the tests with 16 sunny rule (there were no sunny weather at all these days)

So, my #FED2camera is ready for the second test. It took me about 16 hours to completely disassemble, clean, put together and adjust. Including the new custom made lens cup 😂
The shutter was not as bad as I thought and even the ribbons looked ok. Of course there was a mess everywhere including curtain sleeves. Now everything is clean and freshly lubricated. Big thanks to Alin Ciortea for his 8 part youtube video. I used it along with the book and it helped a lot. #BelieveInFiIm

So the test film was developed and I can confirm that CLA is needed. Some pictures are ok, some suffer from shutter capping. I tried every speed few times and it turns out that the second curtain is sometimes slow as hell.

To be continued…
