For #vgmwednesday here is a track simply titled "Prologue" from the OCRemix album Balance and Ruin.
The whole Balance and Ruin album is phenomenal (and free!). It ran afoul of SquareEnix before its release due to a Kickstarter to release physical albums. I don't know if the details of that or the agreement that settled it is publicly known, but after seemingly being cancelled for awhile, it was back on and released in 2013.
The Prologue sticks pretty close to the spirit of the original work, but with phenomenal dramatic flare and high production values. It beautifully transitions into a tear-inducing arrangement of the main theme.
If you haven't listened to this album yet, I cannot recommend it enough. Like the original FF6 OST, literally every track is good.

I know they kept some of Woosley's iconic lines in the GBA re-translations, but it looks like this wasn't one of them. The new version is "son of a sandworm", which is a bit less ridiculous and less interesting.
Woosley's version manages to convey "this is a curse" without using an expletive and also "this guy is an absolute clown". It's not just iconic because it's silly and memorable, but also because it's good writing. The original Japanese here is more like "argh, damn it!". It's funny to me that something so mundane was elevated to meme-worthy when localized.
Starting #FF6 (the GBA version). Never played this version and honestly haven't played FF6 since high school, when I played it on SNES. I am immediately struck by two things:
(1) Oh no, what did they do to the music!? Sometimes it's ok, albeit a bit tinny; other times (like the battle theme intro) it sounds a bit gross. This is par for the course on GBA, unfortunately.
(2) Even being like 25 years removed from last time I played this, I can feel how different this translation is. Case in point: when I saw this line I thought "Who's Ymir? Where's Whelk?" It's more than just names though. The intro text is a lot wordier. I know this was a big re-translation and I remember it dividing people when the GBA version first came out.
