… but I do think ∃ interesting lessons one can learn from #poker that apply to real life. In complex interpersonal situations, folks love to analogize to poker: “oh, they're bluffing”, etc.
If one does interpersonal work in social situations where folks often behave deceptively, IMO deep poker theory can help.
I have this talk that I have pitched a dozen times called “Everything I needed to know about FOSS politics, I learned from poker”.

Relatedly, we debated this internally about #FOSSY 2025 at #SFC because coming to the USA is a difficult issue rn.
We concluded to go ahead w/ the conference & note that it was really for folks already in the USA (since entering the USA is dangerous for many folks), & announce it would move to Vancouver, BC, .CA for 2026.

Taking a rest day after getting home from #FOSSY was a wise idea. I slept in, went to an appointment, had breakfast and then took a multiple hour nap.
Some sketching practice at the fabulous #Fossy2025 #Fossy open source software conference this past weekend. Organized by the Software Freedom Conservancy and lots of volunteers, with Portland's OpenSignal filming everything and streaming live. Talk recordings to come if you missed it! Topics such as microtonal music, quantum computing to detect gravity waves, oss in education, lots more. Somewhat more productive than doomscrolling!

During our #FOSSY panel, during a discussion on AI, one of the lawyers asked the crowd "how many of you never use AI when you code?" Almost every hand went up and the lawyer seemed very incredulous.
That was not the right crowd for that question.
