Made it! Followed the route on my website up Pen-y-Ghent. Wonderful walk on a great day. A couple of random pictures of Hull Pot. Dramatic picture of a fingerpost I am saving for #FingerpostFriday!

Not posted a #FingerpostFriday in a while. Here’s one from the Peak District seen while walking from Castleton to Mam Tor.

A photo showing three blue sign arms on a lamppost sited on a riverside walk, the rather murky river behind. The sign arms indicate various destinations for a cycle path, including one with a steep incline to the town centre. Someone has added their own information in white paint, including distances. They have also added directions to the railway station, two alternatives with one via steps just after the bridge ahead (they have drawn on steps under the figure of a person walking). They have also given the pedestrian a sword and shield. On another sign arm the figure of a pedestrian has an umbrella and what appears to be a wheelie suitcase (not sure but apparently it’s ‘small!’). An old penny-farthing bicycle has also been drawn on. A mixture of factual information and random doodling; useful and fun.
Trees line the opposite bank of the river. The sky is cloudy with a hint of blue.

I was part of a workparty trimming back the nettles, bracken and brambles this morning.

#Volunteering

A galvanised circular kissing gate between two wooden posts and various strands of barbed wire. There is greenery behind and a footpath. One of the posts has signs and arrows indicating the path.
In front of the stile is a set of 3 worn sandstone steps suggesting that the path has been here a while and that there used to be an older more traditional stile.
