One of the deadliest building fires in #UShistory occurred #OnThisDate in 1980 when a blaze at the #MGM Grand #Casino #hotel in #LasVegas claimed the lives of over 80 victims and injured over 600. Back then the #FireCodes did not require #sprinklers in areas that were open and "occupied" 24 hours a day.
