I learned the hard way that words can be weapons.
(No trauma dump, you're good.)

Language is powerful.
Or as I like to say:
Language is load-bearing.

Words have real somatic impact.
They change nervous system state.
And yet tech treats it as.. vibes.
(Words make the body go brrr.)

What happens when language is treated with the same rigor as code?
When nervous system cost is not an abstract idea but part of the equation?
Which communicational failure modes become myths of the past?
(Static types for human language when?)

Imagine people asking:
"Why do you care about language so much?"

And the answer being:
"Because it works."

systemic.engineering explores what happens
when language stops being vibes
and is treated as infrastructure.

Because that's what language is:
The transport layer between divergent realities.
(Be they human or agentic.)

Every regulation creates a new priesthood.

They don't solve the problem. They become gatekeepers to the solution you could have implemented yourself.

Then they sell you software to comply with rules they lobbied for.

It's not corruption, but a business model.

Traumatic landscapes of plastic, pollution and exploitation

The coastline of Spain is known as the ‘Sea of Plastic’ ("Mar de Plástico”) It is the world’s largest plastic greenhouse complex with 350 square km of fruit and vegetables grown by immigrant labour for the horticultural industry. >>

Could we do the same thing to the coast of NSW?
NSW Greens to move bill to let councils better regulate berry industry as it continues rapid expansion

“People move into these beautiful valleys for the lifestyle and the environment but then wake up one day and within months they are looking at an industrial-scale blueberry farm."

"Faehrmann’s bill will call for mandated buffers between intensive horticulture farms and homes and waterways, as well as strict controls on spraying, runoff and irrigation and greater monitoring of produce for pesticides."

"Blueberry farming is rapidly expanding beyond Coffs Harbour, where it began several decades ago, into the Nambucca Valley and the Kempsey area to the south, and west toward Grafton and Bellingen."

“It’s a strange thing goes on inside a bubble,” [note: #genAI is not ONLY a bubble; this isn’t a perfect analogy. But the extent to which it and the US government are mutually captured by a necessity of overvaluation may be very similar.] #enron #digitalGovernance #regulation #ethics #AIEthics

Act Three
Scene One
THE EARTHQUAKE HITS
Sloman (to us) There's a strange thing goes on inside a bubble. It's hard to describe. People who are in it can't see outside of it, don't believe there is an outside. You get glazed over. I believed in Enron. Everybody did. I told people again and again to keep buying that stock and I kept rating it and supporting it and championing it like it was my own child.
And people say, how could you? If you didn't understand how it worked. Well. You get on a plane, you don't understand exactly how it works, but you believe it'll fly. You know - and everyone else boarding that plane knows - it'll fly up into the air and take you to your destination, crazy as that may seem.
And if you got out your seat, said I'm not flying, I don't know how it works,' you'd look crazy. Well, it's like that. Except.
Imagine if the behef that the plane could fly was all that was keeping it in the air. It'd be fine. If everybody believed. If nobody got scared. As long as people didn't ask stupid questions. About what it is keeps planes in the air.
September 11th 2001.
They improvise their responses.
Eventually. •
Ken Lay comes out to give a speech.
As the speech goes on, Lay becomes surrounded by tiny pieces of shredded paper being blown all over him, all over the stage. He keeps trying to carry on regardless. The shredding represents the huge destruction of documents going on at Enron and Arthur Andersen.
Lay Well, I'm delighted to be back in charge. In more normal

Data harvesting was invented for advertising, but we were warned from day 1 that it would be used for other, even more nefarious purposes, such as crime & fascism.

- but nobody listened, because... making advertising infinitely more intrusive & profitable was... too important...?

I mean, fuck, man, give me ONE reason why we didn't IMMEDIATELY regulate this shit, that isn't corrupt, stupid or both.
