Space: the final frontier... or at least, a rather smashing view from the beautiful Serra do Elefante here in Minas Gerais!

My trusty Samsung S23+'s first mission, you see: to boldly point at the heavens and have a good go at this astrophotography lark. My very first crack at it, and I must say, I'm quite chuffed with how these starry snaps turned out, even with those clouds gallivanting across the sky!

Loads to learn, naturally, but utterly hooked and keen to crack on for the next clear night. Beam me up!

Upward-looking astrophotograph taken with a long exposure from Mirante Serra do Elefante in Mateus Leme, Minas Gerais, Brazil, using a Samsung Galaxy S23+. The image displays a brilliant night sky densely packed with stars, appearing as streaks or elongated points due to the long exposure. A discernible glowing band suggestive of the Milky Way stretches diagonally. The tops of two red-lit communication towers frame the bottom left and right corners, their structures angled inwards towards the impressive starscape. A soft streak of cloud crosses the upper portion of the frame, also showing signs of movement from the long exposure.Astrophotograph captured with a long exposure from Mirante Serra do Elefante in Mateus Leme, Minas Gerais, Brazil, with a Samsung Galaxy S23+. The scene shows a vast expanse of stars exhibiting motion blur due to the long exposure, partially obscured by wispy, motion-blurred clouds also characteristic of the technique. Two red-lit communication towers are visible: a larger one with disc antennas in the lower right, and the tip of another appearing on the middle left edge of the frame.Night sky astrophotograph taken with a long exposure from Mirante Serra do Elefante in Mateus Leme, Minas Gerais, Brazil, using a Samsung Galaxy S23+. The image reveals numerous stars blurred by the Earth's rotation during the long exposure, and soft, elongated white clouds streaking diagonally across much of the frame. The bright red light from the top of a transmission tower is just visible in the extreme lower-left corner.
