Toyota has proven its critics wrong by achieving an all-time high in total deliveries and retaining its top spot in sales for the fourth consecutive year, despite entering the electric vehicle (EV) market later than some competitors.
Toyota's battery electric vehicle (BEV) deliveries showed a remarkable 325.2% year-over-year growth, reaching 104,018 units. However, BEVs still make up only 0.926% of the total shipments. Chairman Akio Toyoda believes that BEVs will have a market share of 30%, while the remaining 70% will be hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), or hydrogen engines.
