After playing the previous installments of the Secret Files series, I never had the chance to complete the last game. It’s evident that it’s the final installment, as it felt unfinished and rushed. The developers seemed to have left some parts of the story out or cut scenes missing. Despite these shortcomings, it was still a fun and nostalgic experience to play through.

I wasn't (& haven't been) posting as much for awhile because of several reasons, but mostly: I just didn't have anything good or kind to write about games or gaming.

Still not sure how much I do have. I got tired of adding to the negative chatter, but almost every time I've written positively about games I've either learned something bad about its publishers/devs or circumstances later or my feelings soured on the games over time.

Every RPG, every difficult for the sake of being difficult game, and every game built around or involving real-time mechanics should have a chill mode where you can enjoy the game on your terms.

There is too much effort put into games to let some obstructive designs run people off from enjoying and appreciating them.

The more I think on it, I think a little of my dislike for the "blocky voxel style" isn't the voxels so much as a mix of the textures, perspective choice, and block scale of some of the games using them.

I think specifically it may be the pixel art-ish approach to the textures in some cases, limited third-person camera distances, and block sizes, at least as viewed from mostly first-person.

Every time I play Tower Unite, I'm happy it exists but I'm also wishing there was a FOSS variation on it. Overte is sorta like that, but it has the problem almost all VR to standard play games have, which is the controls are off for standard play.

The next up is any Luanti multiplayer game that offers a creative mode or is otherwise just chill design, but those tend to use the blocky voxel style. Which is okay but not my favorite personally.

Occasionally I don't know how much I like Video Games so much as I like Virtual Worlds. If it weren't for some of the virtual photographers out there I'd feel almost alone in this.

It sometimes feels like they aren't given enough appreciation, treated merely as stage with set dressing than places to be in themselves. Those are among the most unfortunate, hollow virtual worlds to visit.

Programmed sets may be the next behind those.
