I am watching the new production of Importance of Being Earnest and all I can think about is how cleverly the fabric's design patterns are matched, every piece, every line, it's just so good!

In 1860 the Prince of Wales, a son of Victoria and Albert, was visiting a theatre when he noticed that the actor Fletcher, although playing a penniless adventurer, had a suit of impeccable cut. 'Who is your tailor?' the Prince enquired, and Fletcher told him. And this was how Henry Poole came to secure a royal warrant. – "The Savile Row Story", Richard Walker.
Henry's father grew his #tailor business from a hobby and a good eye for #GarmentDesign
TIL that the tailor's tape measure first appeared in the late 1700's and with it, tailoring entered the third dimension. Then came the German mathematician Dr Henry Wampen who studied proportions of Greek statues untill his tailor suggested that his findings might have a practical application. 30 years later the first book on the mathematics of draping a human figure was produced.
100 years ago there was a crazy guy called Georgi Gourjieff with some really crackpot ideas, like that the Moon was the worst place in the universe. But he had some interesting ones too. Like, that in the industrial age people's clothes changed to fit the background of factories and mills, and turned black. And that ants used to be conceous but they organised and the same thing happened to them.
So yeah, fuck uniforms of any kind.
Wearing my scoodie design to work this morning, feeling a little apprehensive 😊 It feels very soft, warm and cosy though.
When the lack of #sewing experience sends you #garments that don't fit, make #eyelets.
The project was very interesting. I chose upholstery fabric, which was insanely hard to cut and I used a denim needle to sew. Maybe I have ended up with a bulletproof vest 😁
I will attach silver chains to the eyelets, just need to find something that works like a carabiner but maybe circle rather than the traditional shape. Still proud of the double welted pockets through darts.
Just thinking, wouldn't it be good to make a special top for dying your hair? When you apply the colour, you have to wait about half an hour and you can't really wear a t-shirt because to rinse your hair you have to take it off by pulling it over your head and that gets the dye all over it. Wrapping yourself in a towel is not always convenient. So I am thinking, something that you can unfasten or unwrap like a kimono?
I have been able to not spend all wages on buttons today while visiting the vintage button stall at Spitalfields Market. One curious thing I found was this single Yves Saint Laurent button. The back of it looks like it was ripped off a garment. And they are offering this single button for sale.I wonder what the story is.
This is a case of seeing a fabric that you weren't looking for but clearly it's asking to be made into a smoking jacket or some kind of a jacket. Almost £50 for the length I need. Arrrghh. 😁
I didn't need a jacket but yeah 😊🙃
My shirt begins here. I am so excited!
I am really impressed with the Spring Summer 2026 collection from Alexander McQueen. This last collection looks different to me, it's not just staying true to the brand, it's as if Lee himself designed it; just pure joy to see!
I am glad I went to the Marie Antoinette Style exhibition at the V&A today. A very beautiful and inspiring exhibition . One word to describe the style is unapologetic. And also, aren't these the best shoes in the world?!

Shamelessly showing off my new cutting table that my stepdad has built today. It makes me want to draft and cut patterns so hard! It's pretty high, about 120 cm but it's because I don't want to worry about bending over low tables ever again. Me is happy. Meow.
I've just spent half an hour talking to Gemini #AI about #Topology and its possible applications in #garmentdesign and #sewing. Finally, I asked Gemini to create a design with everything said in mind and this is what I got. Not even joking.
