We got the FTF! Been a minute since we got one. Always fun to see a fresh clean #geocaching log.

Have you heard of #Geokrety? Or have you heard of #travelbugs? They're great fun, and whereas TravelBugs are commercial and will cost you money, Geokrety are open-source and completely free!

With a little DIY, you can turn whatever you like into a trackable object. People can then move these from cache to cache and register each move with this service. You can then see the trip of your Geokret on a map, and people can leave stories of what they've been through in the log! Cute, right?

While geocaching tends to slow down during the winter months—with fewer boots on the trails and some caches even tucked away under the snow—this "off-season" is actually the perfect time to start a project. You can spend the cold evenings crafting your Geokrety so they are ready to hit the wild as soon as the spring thaw begins!

A laminated GeoKrety.org tracking tag for a trackable object named 'Mr. Fork'. The tag displays the reference number 'GK19D79' and the tracking code 'NYU2RT'. It includes instructions to take photos of the object sticking in various things and to tag them on Mastodon or Pixelfed using hashtags like #geokrety and #opencaching. A small metal cocktail fork is attached to the tag with a white string.

A map of Central and Eastern Europe covered in a dense network of yellow map pins and colorful connecting lines, primarily concentrated in Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, and Romania. Heading out on a #geocaching FTF (first to find) run in the rain. New puzzle cache published this morning in our neck of the woods and off work finally.

We are on day 249 of our streak so it's getting harder to stay motivated to do this every day, but still a fun father & son (me) activity.

Hit Amish country today because that’s what middle age rebellion looks like. Locked onto a Saint Bernard puppy like it was 1994 and I just found a hidden track on a CD. Bagged a couple geocaches, inhaled free samples, left with enough cheese and meat to survive a minor apocalypse. Peak Gen X field trip.

"Draußen in der großen Wartungshalle scheint es ein Problem an der Elektroversorgung zu geben. Gleich hier um die Ecke im Erdgeschoss befindet sich der Elektroschaltraum. Schauen sie da gleich mal nach! Sicher können Sie das kleine Problem schnell lösen."

'Reisen im Kopf' #FotoVorschlag

Charlie, unser Caching Bear mit seiner #Geocoin um den Hals hat uns fast immer auf unseren #Reisen begleitet. Immer wenn ich ihn links vom Schreibtisch sitzen sehe, reise ich im Kopf noch mal nach.

Das Bild zeigt einen Teil der Niagarafälle, aufgenommen aus einer Perspektive, die die Majestät der Wasserfälle hervorhebt. Im Vordergrund befindet sich ein felsiger Vorsprung aus grauem Stein, der mit kleinen Grashalmen und Moos bewachsen ist. Auf diesem Felsen sitzen zwei Objekte: ein kleiner, hellbrauner Teddybär mit einem orangefarbenen Hut und einem gelben Halstuch, und ein dunkler GPS-Gerät, das neben dem Bären liegt. Der Teddybär ist nach rechts geneigt, während das GPS-Gerät diagonal zum Teddybären positioniert ist.

Der Hintergrund wird von den beeindruckenden Niagarafällen dominiert, die sich über die gesamte Breite des Bildes erstrecken. Das Wasser stürzt in breiten Kaskaden von einer Felskante herab und bildet eine dichte Wolke aus Gischt, die einen großen Teil des mittleren und linken Bereichs des Bildes einnimmt. Die Gischt verleiht der Szene eine leicht dunstige, ätherische Atmosphäre. Das Wasser unterhalb der Fälle hat eine türkisfarbene bis blaugrüne Tönung und ist durch die Wellenbewegungen und die Gischt unruhig.

Am oberen Horizont sind auf der anderen Seite der Fälle Bäume und Gebäude zu erkennen. Die Bäume bilden einen dichten grünen Streifen, während einige Gebäude, darunter ein größerer, heller Bau und ein schmaler Turm, durch die Dunstschicht hindurch sichtbar sind. Der Himmel ist ein sanfter Übergang von blassem Blau zu Grau, was auf eine Dämmerung oder einen bewölkten Tag hindeutet.
