1/2 The Spatio-Temporal Data on the Web Working Group (#SDWWG) of the World Wide Web Consortium (#W3C) was recently re-chartered. The next two years I will be co-chairing this group with Rob Atkinson (#OGC).
There is a great deal brewing up in the #GeoSemantics space, to name just a few:
- #SOSA 2.0
- #GeoDCAT
- #WebVMW
- An #Ontology for Coordinate Reference Systems (#CRS)
- A #3D extension for #GeoSPARQL

5. Widgets Wednesday #5 :
#Sparnatural map widget ๐บ๏ธ
Allows to select a rectangle on a map to generate a corresponding #GeoSPARQL query. The data in the triplestore must be encoded with literal values using the #wktLiteral datatype.
See the documentation :

Today the third draft of the ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ book made it on-line.
This new version is primarily an expansion to conform with #GeoSPARQL 1.1. Novel content also on #SimpleFeatures and #MetaData, plus the odd correction and bug fix.
#rdf #knowledgegraph users, do you know how prevalent the usage of the OGC #geosparql ontology and associated #sparql engines that support it are ?
Tomorrow I am travelling to Crete to attend the #ESWC2024. Sunday, during the #GeoLD workshop, I will be presenting the #GloSIS web ontology. Also in the #GeoLD I am co-authoring a position paper making the case for a #SemanticWeb standard for #CoordinateSystems.
#3D enthusiasts watch out!
Interesting request re #GeoSPARQL and #Textures of 3D #objects in the world of #LOD

On the menu for the #FOSS4G2023 code sprint:
- Add pyproj to the #GeoPython workshop
- #GRASS pull requests and issues
- Test SPARQL Unicorn, a #GeoSPARQL plug-in for #QGIS
- Test #BBOX
No promises on how far I can go ๐
After the Keynote by Felix Sasaki @sapdach@twitter.com now Kirill Bulert, @infai_ev@twitter.com chairs the session on Ontologies, Tools and Data Acquisition for Knowledge Graphs
With talks by Thomas Hoppe @FraunhoferFOKUS on #Reskriver, Javad Chamanara @tibhannover on databri-x, Simon Bin, @infai_ev@twitter.com on #GeoSPARQL and #CoypuPoroject, and Konrad Hรถffner, IMISE, @unileipzig on #RickView #LSWT #LSWT2023 #DataWeekLeipzig
The first draft of the ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ book is finally
online. Was quite the road to get here, one I am pretty sure still has some ways to go.
Reviews, comments or suggestions most welcome.
@defuneste You might as well add #GeoSPARQL to that list.
Although not in a normative document, this is a logical consequence of the #GeoJSON specification regarding axes order.
Whereas it may be ok to use #GeoJSON on your computer, it is not a suitable encoding to publish #geospatial data on the #web referring to #geodetic CRSs.
The #GeoSPARQL specification is far from sufficient regarding coordinate systems, but it is already much better sorted out in these circumstances. #LinkedData #SemanticWeb
Finally found the time to read the preview on #GeoSPARQL 1.1 delivered to the last #GeoLD. Interesting hints on the future of #GeoSpatial #Data on the #WWW.
