I haven’t really watched NHL in a while, so coming into the tournament, I couldn’t identify any of the Canadian goalies (after seeing Binnington, I couldn’t name the backups).

So seeing Binnington for the first time last Saturday, the two goals that he allowed (granted, one on a 2-on-2 leaving the shooter open and one on a Crosby giveaway, if I recall) were on the soft side.

That and the frequent quick-look-behind to see if the puck was in the net didn’t inspire confidence.

So I could see that the hate is a bum rap. i just hope that, as a money goalie, whatever team that he plays for has a solid backup to play Chico Resch to Binnington’s Billy Smith.
