Panorama Point in #GoldenGateCanyonStatePark Elev = 9360 feet 2853 meters. Looking west across a valley to the eastern side of the Rockies. elevation of those are between 11 and 14,000 feet It was also almost 20 degrees F cooler than down in Denver.
We went out for a drive and this is not that far away. I enjoyed just standing around up there.

Photo looking west into the Rocky Mountains from a platform in a state park near Golden CO. The foreground is the deck fence with one of these big binocular things you put a quarter in the seinic views. Foreground is in shade from all the trees around us.
We are looking over a valley as we are about 9300 feet up here. There a ridge of the mountains in the distance going right to left. The mountains are in sun but have a haze to them. There is also still snow on them. The sky is a lighter blue with big puffy clouds.

#CoolTrainTuesday Manitou & Pikes Peak locomotive #1, now at the Colorado Railroad Museum, Golden. Originally built in 1890 by Baldwin, it was rebuilt in 1912 as a 0-4-2T Vauclain compound, with both high and low pressure cylinders driving a rear jackshaft that then drove the driving wheels and the Abt cog. Used until 1944 when it was retired in favor of gasoline railcars.
