The breathtaking contrast of the Odle Group, captured from Seceda 🏔️

This is one of the most stunning places in the Dolomites. It’s an amazing clash of soft green meadow and grass with hard grey rocks. This was my second time here and I was amazed all over again—this time, there was some snow around. Can you see it?

I love this photo not only for that contrast but also for the sky. It’s a perfect background that isn't disturbing; there isn't much happening, but the clouds high above seem to melt as they reach the peak of Große Fermeda (Grande Fermeda). It's important to note that while this view is often referred to as "Seceda," that is actually the name of the ridgeline where I stood to take the photo, not the mountains themselves.

Practical Tip: To reach this iconic viewpoint, you can take the cable car from Ortisei (St. Ulrich) directly to the Seceda mountain station. From there, it's a short walk to the ridge. For the best photography conditions, try to arrive for sunrise or sunset when the low light emphasizes the jagged textures of the Fermeda peaks. If you visit in late autumn like I did, be prepared for rapidly changing weather and that beautiful light dusting of snow 📸

I took this earlier today on our regular dog walk. Was it only hours ago that I could walk with ease?

I just smashed the living shit out of my big toe, fell to the floor, cursed for a bit, and limped my ass to my bed where I now lie prone. I'm scared to take my sock off because I don't want to know if it's as bad as it feels.

A couple of years ago I broke my foot in two places and tried to "walk it off" pretending that I was okay. We even drove down to outside London for the flight we were taking the next day to Romania. When I woke up there was no more lying to myself. We never did get to Romania.
