So I have a #googlepixel7pro and a #googlepixelwatch2 for that synergy that having devices from the same manufacturer brings, and let me tell you... I'm not seeing it!
Sure, swiping away notifications on the watch also dismisses them on the phone, which is nice, but...
I had to factory reset my phone to even activate my watch. Bad start.
My phone automatically goes into dnd at night. The watch follows. In the morning they're supposed to go back, but the combination of the other device being in dnd keeps them there.
And Bluetooth...
My earbuds are either connected to one or the other. The watch will steal the connection from the phone. If I only have the watch there is no magic to connect the buds, but instead a deep menu path. If the buds are connected to the watch, my phone rings and I take it on the watch I'm now speaking on... The watch. Not the buds. Confusion is total!
#google is clearly not invested in making a cool extension of the phone, but just another device. Not cool.

A month back I raved about how terrible the Galaxy Watch 6 is and how it completely failed to connect to my Pixel 7 Pro.
Anyway, I just bought a Pixel Watch 2, BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY A GOOGLE WATCH WILL WORK WITH A GOOGLE PHONE! Apparently, no. Cargo culting my way through all the inventive solutions suggested by the Internet with no yield whatsoever and then finding out that it works without a glitch on my wife's Pixel 7 (common) phone makes me think that probably the watch wasn't the issue - the phone was. Is.
I'm more than a bit weary of factory resetting my phone because, well... Authenticators. Also, backing up Signal is a hassle. But I'm afraid that might be the only natural way forward.
So Samsung is somewhat in the clear here - although it's still not OK to just reject support because it's not a Samsung phone. Even if the phone happens to be at fault.

I'm actually impressed. After my adventures with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 - where I have returned the watch and uninstalled all related apps, my Google Pixel 7 Pro has gone to shit. Apps crash left and right and the battery that is usually at 40% after a day of use is now flat in the early evening. What kind of malicious crapware does this?!
A factory reset seems obvious, but will incur significant work for me regarding setting up two factor authentication again, including for the Danish MitId.
