#Gos

Does anyone use #birday on #gos?
It worked great in the past, but since a few months when I edit a contact, it does not add it to the birthday list. Today I reinstalled it and it doesn't read any contact or any information from my contacts.
When I go to settings and want to manually import from there, the app crashes.
Other app recommendations?

#gos question:
It comes with a #contacts app and I could not find a way to enter a #birthday manually.
But when I import the #VCF card, it works and shows it as an event.
But when I then go on edit, it doesn't show at all.
Thoughts?

@jbz

I'm not sure how I'll be responding to this because I'm not currently an Android app developer and not likely to be.

In principle I'd like to deGoogle, but it's not really an option for many, and it is the many that will be needed in order for developers to retain a user base.

I'd love to see this boost Android and iOS alternatives, and might switch as a way of supporting that. But which?

I looked at #GOS recently and it looked promising, but don't think it avoids this.

For me the key point is:
I want to seriously and really own my device. I paid a fortune for a brick sized device. I don’t want to pay again with data or my attention. I want to be independent from being black mailed, surveilled, treated as a resource to squeeze.
Privacy and security are my key concerns, not where they are built or who built it. This is a second concern.
I hate to buy google hardware. Seriously. But it is the only hardware running the most secure and privacy friendly OS, #gos.
To me, there no mobile OS matching my privacy and security requirements as gos does. So I bite my tongue and get a pixel phone. But for me not sending data to google and having full control over my device is more important than a less secure and private phone from Germany, which uses google play…

Just flashed my with the stock to sell it. The process was... surprisingly painless. I just had to plug it in to my new via a USB cable and follow the instructions on the 's flasher page. I was worried I would have to do some weird sorcery with my T480 to get the USB-C port to work... Well, that's one thing outta the way!

Just replaced my with a ! It has nearly 3x the battery life, 120Hz refresh rate over 90Hz, which is noticeable, and it'll be supported until 2031!

Overall I'm quite happy with my purchase!

I'm considering using an #eSim on #grapheneOS. #gos.
I have read the English and the few German explanations and I want to confirm if I understood everything properly. Is there a step-by-step description with pictures what to activate and where to press?
To install a new eSiM I need to activate the Google Play services. If I read the description, I understand that no data is sent to Google, except if my provider does that.
After activation of the sim, I can disable them again. So my understanding is nothing is connected or sent to Google.
Do the Google Play services need to have a network connection or anything like that during activation? Or can I just disable all permissions?

My Pixel 8 Pro running #GrapheneOS #gos doesn't boot anymore.
The battery ran flat, so I connected it to a charger.
When I boot now, it gets stuck. See the picture.
I have the impression that charging by cable doesn't charge the phone anymore. I put it on a wireless charging now and see what happens. But it's the second pixel device where I have problems with the charging via cable. My 6 Pro had the problem that it didn't charge anymore after less than 2 years of usage. This phone is also less than 2 years old.

If you are a -focused or user, you might want to check out this app: github.com/wesaphzt/PrivateLock

It runs in the background and monitors accelerometer readings. If the readings get too erratic, it locks your phone! Great if you are concerned about having your phone snatched while it is still unlocked.

A screenshot of the Private Lock app, containing a bunch of setting for changing accelerometer sensitivity, starting/stopping the service, and a tool testing the sensitivity.

Alright, so yesterday I was installing on a Pixel 9a, and before I enabled OEM unlocking I had to deal with the stock . I held the power button so I could reboot the phone and enter fastboot. It only makes sense that holding the power button will give you a menu related to the device's power, right? Well, apparently not for , as holding the power button opened the fucking app.

I installed #gos experimental today on a Pixel10 pro. It went absolutely smoothly. Thanks guys for the great work.

Are there any known issues flashing the experimental #GOS on a Pixel 10 Pro?

Does anyone else have a problem adding a URL to the home screen? I tried #vanadium on #GOS. I tried #brave and I tried #fennec. They all offered me the option to add a link to the home screen. And I've done it before without issues. But now I've tried it with all different three browsers. They all go with me step by step, but nothing appears on my home screen.
Ideas?
