At the main conference, Dirk Lanzerath and Sandra Scholl spoke about the challenges for institutional #ResearchEthics and #ResearchIntegrity raised by #NewTechnologies. iRECS develops and tests a #GovernanceModel for research performing and higher education institutions.

One of the dangers that we see from the paper is the drive that may arise for a #techcratic solution in which unaccountable institutions, that are declared the most scientific, decide how things will operate, in places they don't even live in.

If not paired with something akin to at least a local #citizensJury, the #governanceModel may not be sustainable long-term.

While the paper does mention democracy, the things most described tend to fall under the category of #autocracy – so caution here.
