No one asked but I did get 7 photos for a step-by-step #DIY post if I think someone may be interested. Thin black silicone mats are floppy and stretchy so it’s really hard to measure and cut. I used 3 metal rulers, tape measure, flat cardboard box, cutting boards, pan lid, utility knife and white marker.

To cut the black mat to a rounded corner on granite countertop surrounding the sink I traced around the right size pan cover with the white marker shown left.

My early morning project when the guys are sleeping sound. From 7:30 am after 2 cups strong coffee I started a project that can be nerve-wracking to complete. New silicone mat for the large sink area with black granite counters. These counters shouldn’t have water left to sit in them because of hard water mineral stains and deposits over time.

Also, when cooking it’s nice to be able to set a hot pan on the sink counter! Also bad for counters that can crack from the heat. Silicone mats to the rescue! Before and after photos shown. After photo shows peninsula/island sink area has silicone mats to protect the black granite counters from water or hot pans. All black thin black mat covers most of the large counter area behind the faucet. 3 ribbed heavy silicone trivets line the left counter edge. 2 red silicone mats are at the corner facing me, placed under black silicone trivets. 2 round decorative black silicone trivets towards center and bottom right of photo. A little of the kitchen seen on 3 sides of the sink area:fridge left, white stove and drawers top, wood white cabinet under sink area counter.

Before photo. Ooh black granite counters show in this photo of the peninsula/island sink area. 2 deep stainless sink tubs unit with single post tall faucet and lever. Dish soap dispensers to top left of faucet. Dining area shows beyond sink and table. It looks nice but water constantly splashes counter in a wide area.
