US sues six of the biggest landlords over “algorithmic pricing schemes”

The US Justice Department today announced it filed an antitrust lawsuit against “six of the nation’s largest landlords for participating in algorithmic pricing schemes that harmed renters.” One of the landlords, Cortland Management, agreed to a settlement “that requires it to cooperate with the government,” the DOJ said.

The US previously sued #RealPage, a software maker accused of helping landlords collectively set prices by giving them access to competitors’ nonpublic pricing and occupancy information.

The landlord defendants are #Greystar, #LivCor, #Camden, #Cushman, #WillowBridge, and #Cortland, which collectively “operate more than 1.3 million units in 43 states and the District of Columbia,” the DOJ said.

The Justice Department is joined in the case by the attorneys general of CA, CO, CT, IL, MA, MN, NC, OR, TN, and WA.

Okay, does anybody here remember the #LoneWolf books by Joe Dever and Gary Chalk? They were made back in the heyday of the choose-your-own-adventure books but this series added a role-playing component to it with a character sheet that carried through all the books. Required dice and a pencil to play. There were 13 books in the original series, and then there were some "Legends of Lone Wolf" spin-offs. There was also a video game version that came out a decade back or so, but it didn't quite capture the magic of the original.

There was a ninja series in the same genre (of course, because it was the '80s) called #WayOfTheTiger, which I also loved.

Well, tonight as I was going through some of my old stuff that i brought back from Dad's house, I found them! All of them, including the Magnamund Companion! Junior high me is so giddy right now! It was a magical time (pardon the pun) and just seeing these books again brings back so many memories. 😁
