Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf was, alongside the Fighting Fantasy series, my gateway into the world of tabletop role-playing games. Gary Chalk’s evocative art and maps sparked my interest in fantasy art and cartography.

For me - one of the finest #fantasy #art -ists! I'm very visual, his images brought #LoneWolf & the world of #Magnamund to life! These solo adventures shaped my vision of #ttrpg more than all the #DnD worlds combined did. Together with #FightingFantasy, this was the gateway drug. Merci. 🙏

Okay, does anybody here remember the #LoneWolf books by Joe Dever and Gary Chalk? They were made back in the heyday of the choose-your-own-adventure books but this series added a role-playing component to it with a character sheet that carried through all the books. Required dice and a pencil to play. There were 13 books in the original series, and then there were some "Legends of Lone Wolf" spin-offs. There was also a video game version that came out a decade back or so, but it didn't quite capture the magic of the original.

There was a ninja series in the same genre (of course, because it was the '80s) called #WayOfTheTiger, which I also loved.

Well, tonight as I was going through some of my old stuff that i brought back from Dad's house, I found them! All of them, including the Magnamund Companion! Junior high me is so giddy right now! It was a magical time (pardon the pun) and just seeing these books again brings back so many memories. 😁
