Just was able to do a successful field test of the #hackersTownPager and the new drone spoofing functionality. Fired it up in WrewHQ (where my drone detection system lives) and the drone detection system immediately "saw" the spoofed drones and plotted them on the map according to their reported positions.

This is exactly what I was hoping to see!

Active jamming detection is working!

I just so happen to have a 2.4ghz capable jammer (for testing purposes only. I swear!) and just did a little test…

As soon as the jammer goes on, the seen APs drops to zero, the noise floor increases, and BLE also starts having issues seeing devices. All of this is correlated in real time and after 10-15 seconds it determines jamming is happening. Turn the jammer off and it returns to normal.

JamSpy reuses a lot of the same code as the WiFi channel analyzer I already have running on the pager. It creates a baseline of your environment for a warmup period (~15 seconds) then goes into monitoring mode. It looks for transmission error packets, AP visibility, RSSI noise floor, and packet flow rates and calculated a jamming probability index that it reports back to you.

I’ll be doing more tuning and testing with it later today - but it’s looking good so far!
