🔎 Found a QRM source: an HDMI cable! Solution: It may not count as full success but turning monitor off when unused still satisfy me for IQ recording. 😇

I build a small patch panel out of single sided PCB material. There are just three connectors for now since I only have one antenna but two radios. The backside already has all the markings needed for future expansion. Currently I just need to print some labels at the club station (I don't have a label maker) and I am done with this weeks #hamchallenge. HC11S @hamchallenge

@hamchallenge

I accidentally found a source of interference. I was scrolling over the bands when I noticed that that 80m was full of QRM that wasn't there a gew days ago. I was looking up 80m foxhunt equipment when I heard the tv turning of and suddenly the QRM was gone.
So I grabbed an AC filter and plugged the TV into it. It seems to help a bit (but not much). Still I count that as a success. HC10S

#hamchallenge week 11 - Großreinemachen: Clean up and label all cables in your shack!

How did you tackle cable management in a shack full of cables? What about the cables that run to your antennas? Tell us about your power cables, feed lines and computer cables. Do you use special cables to mitigate interference? Clip-on ferrites?hamchallenge.org/challenges/12 #hamradio

Mine wasn't strictly ham bands, but I installed new led lights and I noticed I got worse tv reception when I turned on a specific set of lights. Next was figuring out which fixture was noisy. I used an rtl-sdr dongle with my phone to figure out which light was causing the issue. Then I put a ferrite core on the power cable to attenuate the noise.

#hamchallenge week 10 - Find a source of interference in your home and eliminate it

How did you localise the QRM source? What was it and how did you mitigate the interference? How long have you been dealing with it?hamchallenge.org/challenges/11 #hamradio

Cables were definitely cleaned up, though I haven't labelled them all.

Spent a couple of hours rearranging my desk and faffing with cables, trying to remove noise sources that interfere with my HF rig. No luck unfortunately. Too many power supplies and cable runs next to each other; I will need more extreme measures. @hamchallenge #HamChallenge HC10

On 8th Feb I sent and received APRS beacons from the hilltop with the TH-D74 HC8S

On 8th Feb I thanked a bunch of people, particularly our net controller HC7S

A few days @dj4ram suggested on the #draussenfunker Discord to try out JT9. This quickly turned into a who can go lower challenge. The attached image shows my transmission with just 8dBm received by DJ4RAM. HC09S #hamchallenge @hamchallenge

#hamchallenge week 9 - How low can you can you go in QRP Part II

Earlier you tried the lower bands using QRP and now the challenge is to use as little power as you can to make a successful QSO. How far did you get? Which band and mode did you use? Which rig and most importantly: How low did you go? hamchallenge.org/challenges/10 #hamradio

#hamchallenge week 8 - Experiment with APRS!

Whether you set up your own station or look into how APRS works or the history of it is up to your imagination. What did you find out? Did you see APRS packets? How do you they work?hamchallenge.org/challenges/9/ #hamradio

#hamchallenge week 6 - Whistle a DIGI- or CW-QSO!

While it says this is an easy challenge arguably whistling a digimode might be very hard. Hint: It doesn't say you need to use a radio anywhere. Maybe you toot a video of yourself whistling and receive a mention back? hamchallenge.org/challenges/7/ #hamradio

Since I saw this years #hamchallenge s I was awaiting this week: From my QTH I have a good LOS to DB0FLX and had set up a Ubiquity device together with a Raspberry Pi for routing into the Hamnet from my local network some time ago.

For HC05S I looked at some tracroutes to see the involved links and used APRS, DX-cluster and MQTT via HAMNET(-Servers) and right now think about using MQTT as a chat…

The nearest access point to Hamnet is only 1.6 km away as measured in a straight line, but i am on the second floor with many houses in between, so I am unable to establish a radio connection.
I connected to Hamnet via VPN and browsed around a bit. The web part seems a bit like the early Internet, with many private or club sites and broken links. I wish I could add a personal website, hosted on a Pi, to Hamnet. HC05S @hamchallenge #hamchallenge #amateurradio
