Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity).

Und dann bleibt da noch die Frage:
Wessen Dummheit?

HR are the initials of both Human Resources and Hanlon's Razor:

“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”

and this is not coincidence nor happenstance, it's been enemy action for years.

昔西哲 )有谚云:苟愚者,毋恶之( *Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity* )。

(I've thrown out #Hanlon's razor long ago and replaced it with this modified Arthur C. Clarke quote.)

@harriettmb @JackTheCat ah I'd say #Hanlon'sRazor applies:
Never attribute to malice what can be explained by Stupidity

Gruber’s Razor

“Never attribute to malice that which is better explained by the stupidity and the spitefulness of its owner.”

Text Shot: Hanlon’s Razor — “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity” — is a remarkably accurate rule of thumb. But in the case of Twitter/X, it’s not helpful: the stupidity behind the company’s poorly run services is matched by the spitefulness of its owner. Purposeful spite and inadvertent bug strike me as equally likely here, and the list of domain that suffer this delay really does look like Musk’s shitlist. But regardless of the cause, the effect is undeniably bad for users: click or tap a link to these popular sites from Twitter, and it takes about 5 seconds for the URL to resolve.

#Hanlon's Razor is the adage:

"never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity".

A razor is a sharp instrument that makes clear distinctions.

But isn't it often the case that acts and attitudes fall into a stupidity-malice spectrum?

There's the studied obtuseness of those primaily motivated by petty power, facts or objections simply matter less to them ...

Where does Hanlon's razor cut in that case? Not clear whether it even asks the right question.

I know I repeat my #quote almost every day, but pair this up with #hanlon’s #razor and you can explain a lot.

Hanlon’s Razor:
“Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”

… BUT

“Never mistake for stupidity that which is explained by incentive structure.” - Joe Fitzgerald
