Musical Interlude: Dinah Washington is a longtime favorite; I will ALWAYS pause to listen to anything she sings.
Long ago, in that magic time known as the 90s, I was in an office job where I had a small tape player to play music while I worked. I had just bought a new tape of Dinah Washington songs, and was playing it when a coworker came by to ask me something. He asked me to stop the tape, rewind to the beginning, and wait for him. Puzzled, I complied. He came back with a stack of paperwork, made himself comfortable in an extra chair, and then nodded for me to start playing. And we both sat there, doing our work, listening to Dinah in silence, glancing at each other and smiling in shared pleasure. A favorite memory.
And when is Hollywood going to give us a Dinah Washington biopic?
