EN. Sick in bed re-reading some Julián Casanova's works about slave work, genocide and torture after Spanish Civil War (c.1939). We are forced to belive, through public education and propaganda that still remains in elders that it was a war "between brothers" when in fact, they deliberately avoid the issue that all the strategies and logics that the fascists used were genocidal, eugenic and terrorist. They pathologized and animalized all people with left ideology (communists, anarchishts, social-democrats and all that stuff) and even spent a large amout of resources to find, through psychiatry the origin of the "red gene" (in spanish "gen rojo"). Also, the classic fascist agenda that includes, in that eugenic list, queer people, gipsies and other ethnicities that were not considered pure and spanish whatever that means, disabled people, mentally ill people

It was a genocide. And people still try to see the traumatic past as some sort of "things that happen when two little brothers don't get along"
