I think I found my favourite spot at #UTS. The #Library itself often has groups talking out loud, but that's not allowed in the #reading room.
I get pure silence here, and a view that's hard to beat. It sort of looks like it's going on forever.
And it reminds me a bit of #AI generated art, it feels a bit surreal.

I must say, I really love the #UTS Blake #Library as a learning space. It is modern, spacious, has toilets on every floor and even has some chill out spaces.
Though, I find it a bit weird that the artist decided to put some animal carcasses on their sleep zone. Its supposed to make you tired, but it creeps me out a bit. :welp:
There are even some balconies to catch some "fresh" air. Keep in mind, its in the middle of the city with a high traffic road right next to it.
One fascinating thing i found in #Australia are the #ContentWarnings for #FirstNations people (More commonly known in Europe as Aboriginals, but say First Nations People)
Some tribes don't want to show/see images of deceased people, at least for some time. This is an effort of protecting First Nation's customs. I like.
Although, I think this sign was added just recently.
When I saw the Introduction to #UTS videos, I did not expect the park area Alumni Green to be empty enough to find a spot, especially during nice days as today.

Went to the UTS Gym on Wednesday and must say, it's more fun than expected. But that might just be novelty.
Trouble is, ill go to Surfcamp this weekend, and my muscles are killing me. I remember moving my upper body being way easier. Lets hope it goes alright.

They offer some vegetarian dishes so I asked "Do you have anything #vegan". The guy at the counter could neither tell me, nor would he look at the ingredients lists
For a globalized university, this really is a no-go. Staff should be able to accommodate different ethical and religious beliefs
Later I saw: They even advertised a vegan falafel wrap, but with staff's lack of knowledge, i don't trust it

The food court is more or less the only option to have lunch at UTS. Similarly to those in malls, it contains several restaurants that offer different kinds of dishes. The prices are generally A$10 – A$15. There is no public canteen where you can get cheap meals. If you don't have the time to cook for yourself, you will have to pay those kinds of prices.
At first glance, it looks modern, clean and well designed.

Did I tell you that before arriving in #Australia, you have to make sure you don't bring any prohibited items? And lots of stuff are prohibited.
To make sure the continent is not contaminated, you get these small forms. For each item, they say "if not sure, declare it"
My tip: Just declare it. You are probably never 100% sure, and forgetting to declare an item is a criminal offence. Border control will happily help you figure things out.
Mir ist aufgefallen, dass mein Kopf noch immer auf Deutsch gestellt ist. Als ich in UK war, hat sich das schneller geändert. Wahrscheinlich weil ich mir die Challenge gesetzt habe, nur auf Englisch zu reden.

Heute bin ich ein Paar Bahnen ziehen gegangen im Ian Thorpe Aquatic Center.
Nur 10 Minuten Fußweg von der #UTS entfernt und ganz cool, aber wirklich ungewohnt.
Zuerst läuft man in seinen Straßenschuhen durchs Schwimmbad um zu den Umkleiden zu kommen. Wie halten die das sauber?
Und wo findet man dann die Kabinen? Natürlich hinter dem WC-Schild. Da musste ich auch erstmal rumfragen.
Preis als Student waren etwa $6 or 4€. Nicht super günstig wie in Aachen, aber okay

Ähnlich wie Fachschaft-AGs an der RWTH gibt es ein großes Angebot an Gemeinschaften (Societies) an der #UTS.
Für jeden, der gerne Leute kennenlernen will kann ich wärmstens die #GamersGuild empfehlen (siehe Bild).
Hier wird jede Art von Spiel (Rollen-, Brett-, Video-) und Spieler akzeptiert. Bin dort relativ schüchtern angekommen und wurde herzlich Empfangen

War gestern in Glebe. Dieser Stadtteil ist etwa 10 minuten von der #UTS entfernt und ein Muss für alle die #vegan essen wollen
In dem 'Vegan Grocery Store' findet ihr alles mögliche an Ersatzprodukten und vorallem: Schoki. Solltet ihr irgend eine Süßigkeit aus eurer Kindheit craven, werdet ihr hier bestimmt ne Variante finden.
Und ja, es gibt vegane TimTams. Ihr müsst für die #Australien -Erfahrung also keine Tierischen Produkte essen. Review im alt-text
Natürlich hab ich für meine tolle #Kamera die #SD vergessen. Das heisst, alle bisherigen #Fotos haben schlechtere Farben.
Deshalb ging ich zu dem ersten Handyverkäufer, den ich fand. Er bietet mir eine 128GB Karte für A$125 an. Teuer? Teuer. Deshalb: Geht gerade in Touristädten immer zu etablierten Ladenketten. In der Nähe der UTS gibt es JB Hi-Fi, A$40 fürs gleiche Produkt.
Es ist die Suche immer wert, auch wenn man etwas laufen muss.
Mein Zimmer und die Austattung der WG waren recht karg. Es gab weder Geschirr, Töpfe usw. noch ein Oberbett für mich. Auch so etwas wie eine Schreibtischlampe fehlte.
Deshalb hab ich mal geguckt, wie ein #IKEA in #Australien aussieht. Kurz gesagt: Genauso wie ein Deutscher IKEA, aber die Hot-Dogs haben keine Gürkchen (?!)
Mit allem was ich für Küche und Bett brauche, und einem kleinen bisschen #Deko bin ich mit A$200 (≈ 120€) hingekommen. Ist eine gute Idee Bettlaken usw mitzunehmen.

Heiliger, es gibt dort einiges, gerade im Vergleich zu Aachen. Ich mache mir jetzt zur Aufgabe, bis zum Ende des Semesters ein #Review zu jedem #Restaurant auf dieser Karte zu veröffentlichen (Hier und auf HappyCow 😉️)
Auch ausprobiert wird der vegane Lieferdienst „Vegan Food Hub“. Mal sehen, wie der wird.
Gestern um etwa 5:00 bin ich in #Sydney angekommen. Direkt am Flughafen konnte ich mir bei Vodafone eine Nummer mit einer 40GB Internet Flat und Freiminuten nach Deutschland für A$30 besorgen.
Danach hatte ich noch Zeit totzuschlagen und bin mit dem Zug 'Airport Link' direkt zu Circular Quay fahren, also zum Opera House
Die Fotos sind noch nicht so der Hammer, ich hatte vergessen eine SD Karte für die gute Kamera mitzunehmen -_-

Ich hatte häufig #Frühlingsrollen in Deutschland, aber im Vergleich zu denen hier hätten es auch Pommes sein können.

Egal womit man reist, es lohnt sich immer, ein paar Tage vor der Reise seine Präferenzen anzugeben
Hier hatten sie ein pflanzliches Gericht, aber das war in meiner Reihe stets leer. Ich konnte die Attendants darum bitten, mir eins beiseite zu legen.
Voher im DutyFree etwas to-go mitnehmen hat sich aber auch gelohnt.
