Poor air quality due to #wildfire smoke will persist through the day in #Winnipeg. Conditions improved slightly mid-morning, but PM2.5 values are beginning to climb again, pushing AQHI values back into the 9–10+ range. Air quality is tanking in #Winnipeg now as another smoke plume pushes into the region from the north. PM2.5 values have rapidly risen above 100 µg/m3 and will likely climb a bit higher. The smoke will persist into the early afternoon, then begin to clear. #Manitoba #wildfires #MBwx

Well, so far the #wildfire smoke forecast for #Winnipeg hasn’t arrived…yet. A quick look shows degraded air quality in smoke pretty much everywhere *except* Winnipeg. Satellite imagery shows several plumes of smoke dancing around the city, but it looks most likely that the plume to the east from the Nopiming Provincial Park fire will shift into the city this afternoon. #MBwx
Hot & Smokey Conditions Ahead
Hot weather will continue in Winnipeg, but shifting winds will fumigate southern Manitoba with wildfire smoke this weekend.

The #wildfire situation continues to deteriorate today in #Manitoba. Fires are thriving in hot, dry conditions and smothering most of the province in smoke, either at the surface or aloft. Several communities will be in danger over the coming days/weeks, including but not limited to Flin Flon and Lynn Lake. Over 17,000 people have been displaced due to mandatory wildfire-caused evacuations which is largest displacement in Manitoba's recent history. #MBwx
Sunny Skies As Temperatures Climb Higher
There will be plenty of sunshine in Winnipeg this week as temperatures climb into the low 30s by week’s end. Unfortunately, this will worsen fire conditions across the region.

The Nopiming Provincial Park wildfire will be an ongoing impact in the region for the foreseeable future as warm, dry conditions continue into next week. After giving a burst of new smoke yesterday when it perked up, it’s continued to pour out substantial amounts of smoke today.
The fire will likely intensify in the days ahead as temperatures warm and the relative humidity stays very low. #wildfires #MBwx #Winnipeg
